2009 Christmas Bazaar
Friday, November 13
9 a.m. to 4 p.m
Lunch: $12.50
The Ladies’ Literary Club invented the Christmas Bazaar in Washtenaw County, holding their first one on November 30, 1962. Every year on the morning of the bazaar, which now takes place on the second Friday in November, people line up outside the front door waiting for it to be unlocked at 9 a.m. The club is known for the high quality of the items it sells, including wonderful handmade arts and crafts, wreaths, and homemade baked goods and deli items. Coffee and coffeecake are offered in the club’s dining room in the morning and lunch is served starting at 11 a.m. A raffle is also always part of the bazaar and the proceeds benefit the club’s scholarship fund. Christmas Bazaar proceeds provide the funds to maintain and run the historic clubhouse.
