The Ladies Literary clubhouse is available to the public to rent. Club members and all nonprofit groups can rent the club for $85. The cost for others to rent the clubhouse will be raised on September 1, 2010, from $150 to $200.
The lovely historic clubhouse is the perfect location for a wedding shower, a small wedding (up to 100 guests), a retirement party, a meeting, a wedding anniversary party, an organization’s annual Christmas party, and many other types of events.
The clubhouse is ideal for a small wedding, although there is no dance floor. Many a bride has descended the lovely front staircase. Often a couple will get married at the club with a string quartet in attendance, serve hors d’oeuvres and champagne after the ceremony, and then go elsewhere for a reception with dinner and dancing.
The large, practical kitchen includes a stove, a large refrigerator, and a commercial dishwasher. Also included are dishes and stainless for well over 100. Beer and wine can be brought in. The club caretaker, Susie Andrews, works with renters to plan table arrangements, chair setup, and so on. Table linens are provided.
There are several parking spots behind the club, including two handicapped-accessible spots. In addition, there is always plenty of parking on the streets near the club. |
